Police: Mount Vernon man arrested for slashing another man's throat

Police say that during the fight, 52-year-old Louis Kirkland was cut across his neck. He was rushed to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital where he was stabilized and then transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for additional treatment.

Mount Vernon police say they arrested a man for slashing the throat of another resident.
They say that on the evening of April 4, two Mount Vernon men were involved in an altercation that left one of them seriously injured. 
Police say that during the fight, 52-year-old Louis Kirkland was cut across his neck. He was rushed to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital where he was stabilized and then transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for additional treatment.
Police say detectives identified 35-year-old John Garner as the suspect. He was apprehended on April 9 and was arraigned on Monday. 
Garner’s bail was set at $10,000 cash, $100,000 bond, $300,000 partially secured bond. Garner was transported to Westchester County Jail pending the posting of his bail.
