Two New Jersey men were arrested Sunday night after they fled from officers in a stolen car, crashed into a police car near the Hutchinson River Parkway and ran off into a wooded area.
Harrison police say they responded to call around 11:20 p.m. about a report of several men were seen getting out of a car and walking into driveways in the vicinity of Shelly Lane and Stonewall Circle.
While searching the area, an officer located the suspect vehicle, a BMW sedan, on White Deer Lane and observed a man run back to the vehicle from a resident’s driveway.
When they tried to stop the suspect, the driver sped away at a high rate of speed but then crashed into a Harrison police car on Purchase Street near the Hutchinson River Parkway. The suspects jumped out and ran off into a wooded area but were quickly taken into custody.
The driver, Tyris Scott, 20, of Newark, New Jersey, and Assmaamad Williams, 19, of Newark,  were charged with numerous crimes.
Police say they are still looking for two additional suspects associated with the theft of the BMW from New Jersey and another car from Harrison.
