Police: Newburgh shooting suspect charged with reckless endangerment

Police say they retrieved the gun and several shell casings with help from the K9 unit.

A man accused of firing a gun in Newburgh has been charged with reckless endangerment and several counts of criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.
Officers responded to reports of two shots fired near 35 Cerone Pl. on Jan 19.
Upon arrival, they witnessed 50-year-old Samuel Ponder throwing the weapon into the woods.
Police say they retrieved the gun and several shell casings with help from the K9 unit.
