Yonkers police say a 27-year-old Yonkers man, identified by authorities as an off-duty NYPD officer, was shot Tuesday morning while sitting in his SUV on Railroad Avenue.
The victim, who was not named, drove himself to St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers to be treated for a gunshot wound to his left arm. He is in stable condition.
The incident prompted a massive police response on Railroad Avenue near Tompkins Avenue in Yonkers. It also led to a temporary lockdown at Port Chester High School as authorities investigated. It was lifted just before 3:30 p.m.
Port Chester police say they were notified that the suspect’s vehicle might be in the village.
