The Orangetown police officer dragged by a car for more than 40 yards is recovering Thursday afternoon.
Police say 19-year-old Liam Russell dragged Officer Michael McNally with his car Wednesday morning, while the officer was trying to help the Blauvelt teen.
They say McNally suspected Russell was impaired and had called for an ambulance to take him to the hospital when the teen tried to drive off while McNally was partially inside trying to take the keys.
They say McNally found Russell parked in his car, seemingly disoriented, with a cut above his eye.
Officer McNally has injuries to his back, neck and arms, but is expected to be OK.
Russell, who had to be Tasered, is now in Rockland County Jail.
