Police officer struck while protecting pedestrian in Eastchester

During a traffic stop, the officer saw someone crossing White Plains Road at Wilmot Road away from a crosswalk.

An Eastchester police was hit by a car last night in Eastchester while trying to protect a pedestrian.

During a traffic stop, the officer saw someone crossing White Plains Road at Wilmot Road away from a crosswalk.

He was struck while trying to stop traffic both ways for the pedestrian. The officer was taken to the hospital and released later that night.

The driver stayed at the scene and said he was distracted at the time of the crash. No charges have been filed.
