Highland Falls police officials say human remains found in Pennsylvania could bring to conclusion the case of an Orange County woman who disappeared three years ago.

According to Highland Falls Police Chief Peter Miller, a construction worker discovered a skeleton in a rural, wooded area of Punxsutawney, Pa. State police in Pennsylvania then sent out details about the body to agencies across the country through "teletype" - similar to a fax - in which the bones were described as those of an African-American woman in her 30s or 40s, catching the attention of Highland Falls police officials.

Miller says his department has been following every lead that could shed light on the case of Petra Muhammad, who went missing in January 2006.

"People would like to know what became of Petra. We don't know yet," Miller says.

Miller says he plans to deliver Muhammad's dental records to police officials in Punxsutawney to determine if they match the bones that were found.

Muhammad's husband, William, has been questioned in her disappearance, but never charged.
