Police rescue malnourished puppy from behind Highbridge alley

Police are searching for the person who abandoned a malnourished puppy in an alleyway in Highbridge.
The dog was found Monday afternoon behind a fence on East 165th Street and Anderson Avenue and appeared to be suffering from malnourishment.
Residents say they didn't recognize the dog and that it seemed to mysteriously appear there overnight.
Two officers from the 44th Precinct brought the dog to safety.
The ASPCA says the dog is being treated at an animal hospital.
Police say they are using forensic evidence from the dog to track down the person who left her behind.
