A Woodbury family needs a new place to stay after a fire tore through their Orange County home.
More than 40 firefighters worked to put out the flames on Midland Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
The fire started in a detached garage and spread into the home.
Officials say the fire then spread to the back of the house.
The Woodbury Town Supervisor lives across the street. He says he called 911 after hearing explosions and people screaming for help. "It was an immediate response from the police department. They saw that there was a woman inside. They took her out immediately. And there was a neighbor who needed assistance. And they took her out and brought her to safety. And fortunately for everyone, there was no one injured or harmed," says Woodbury Town Supervisor Thomas Burke. The Red Cross is currently assisting the family.
