Police say the latest incident happened Tuesday when three fake officers stopped a man on Sedgwick Avenue. The victim told investigators the men handcuffed him to a rail and stole $300 after he asked to see their badges. Authorities believe, hours earlier, two of the suspects followed a man inside his Kingsbridge Terrace apartment, bound him and stole a safe. Investigators say a female and male impostor also stopped two victims in Baychester, frisked them and took their money and cell phones.
Authorities say some of the impersonators have been armed, have shields, handcuffs and police clothing. Officials advise Bronx residents who are suspicious of a non-uniformed officer to call 911 and ask for a uniformed officer.
