News 12 is learning new information about the stabbing death of a Rocky Point man.
Police are now revealing that the victim, Joseph Zoll, called 911 himself and said his son stabbed him.
His son, Matthew Zoll has been on the run after crashing his mom's vehicle near a wooded area along 25A.
“We have a search ongoing at that location, detectives, patrol force, aviation unit, forward infrared system, K-9 cadaver dogs in case he is dead," said Darrel Simmons, SCPS’s chief of detectives.
The 23-year-old is accused of stabbing his father and leaving their Rocky Point home in a car registered to his mother.
“He fled that murder scene in a black GMC Ukon, which we found five hours later crashed at 25A and the William Floyd Parkway," said Simmons.
Police say they have gone through over 1,600 acres of wooded areas.
They are asking anyone who knows where Matthew Zoll is or anything about him to contact police.
