New York counterterrorism teams were out across Hudson Valley shopping areas and train stations yesterday to conduct random checks to educate on how to deter and recognize suspicious activity during the holiday season.
Local law enforcement officers toured the sites with Counter Terrorism Action Teams (CTAT) agents to discuss the indicators of terrorist activities and to distribute flyers promoting the "See Something, Say Something" campaign.
Some 60 law enforcement personnel from 20 different agencies participated in yesterday's exercises.
The checkpoints did not locate any terror-related materials, but did find five trucks with safety violations.
Police urge anyone who sees something suspicious to call 1-866-SAFE-NYS.
