A woman is dead after falling off of a cliff at a state park in Ulster County last week, according to police.

State police were called to Minnewaska State Park in the Town of Rochester for reports of an injured hiker on Friday afternoon.

Nur Aisyah Binte Md Akbar and her husband Abdul Rauf Bin Mohd Said were hiking on Beacon Hill Trail when they stopped to take photos at the edge of the cliff, according to investigators.

Police said Akbar lost her footing and fell approximately 70 feet off the cliff.

Akbar's husband called 911 and a helicopter airlifted her to Ellenville Regional Hospital for treatment.

Akbar died from her injuries at the hospital.
