Pomona students to attend Obama inauguration
Some Rockland students were given a chance of a lifetime and will be in Washington, D.C. Tuesday, witnessing the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.
The seventh- and eighth-grade students from Pomona Middle School are excited to attend the historic event and for some it is a personal journey.
?Knowing that my grandparents fought just to be able to vote and have equal rights in this country makes it even more special,? says student Amonte Lindsey.
All 42 students were chosen after each individual submitted an essay about what the event meant to them.
