Port Chester man sentenced for attempting to kill off-duty NYPD officer

The shooting happened about a year ago near the Saw Mill River Parkway and Tompkins Avenue in Yonkers.

A Port Chester man, Bryan Martinez, will spend a decade in prison for trying to kill an off-duty NYPD officer.

Martinez was sentenced in Westchester County Court.

The shooting happened about a year ago near the Saw Mill River Parkway and Tompkins Avenue in Yonkers.

The officer was shot once in the arm and drove himself to the hospital.

Martinez was arrested two days later. Officials say he knew the victim.
