A busy portion of Central Avenue in Greenburgh has reopened after a gas main break shut down the area on Thursday.

Con Edison crews were called in to fix the issue, but the roadway ended up being closed in both directions for several hours.

This caused issues for many commuters, especially during rush hour.

"I have to pick up my nephew from day care and his school is closing now, he is 3 years old. I went up this way, I went up backwards. I hope they resolve this whole issue,” said Amir, who drove near the traffic backup.

There is currently no word on what caused the gas leak, but the road is now completely reopened.
