The City of Poughkeepsie is addressing flooding issues at the Fall Kill Creek thanks to a new grant from the state.
The city is receiving more than $750,000 from the New York State Department of State Local Waterfront Revitalization Program.
It's all for their latest initiative known as the Fall Kill Blueway Waterfront Design Guidelines.
Through the program, the city plans on finding ways to address deteriorating flood and retaining wall conditions at the creek.
They'll also look at how to mitigate flood risk, improve biodiversity and waterway health, and increase public space along the creek. The funds will also help the city implement its Local Waterfront Revitalization Program.
