After six years without renewed contracts, teachers in Poughkeepsie have reached a conceptual agreement with the school district.
The Poughkeepsie Public School Teachers Association made the announcement late Thursday night, saying the parties are preparing for a tentative agreement to be reviewed and signed Friday.
The move comes as educators in the district pushed for new contracts, claiming the 2023-2024 school year was their sixth year without a renewed one.
In September 2023, the association raised their concerns surrounding the contracts hours before the district's first day of school.
A mediator has still issued an embargo on the parties.
