Primary elections: Early voting ends today for Westchester, Hudson Valley races

The last day of early voting is today, but make sure you are eligible before heading to a polling station.

The last day of early voting is today, but make sure you are eligible before heading to a polling station.
Only voters registered in the Democratic Party in the 16th and 17th congressional districts, and 34th Senatorial District are eligible to vote.
Only voters registered in the Republican and Conservative parties in the 17th Congressional District are eligible to vote.
In New York’s 16th District, which covers southern Westchester and the Bronx , Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman is running for re-election, against Westchester County legislators Vedat Gashi and Catherine Parker. Mark Jaffe, president and CEO of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, has dropped out of the race.
In the 17th District that spans Rockland, Westchester, Putnam counties and part of Duchess, Democratic Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, who currently represents District 18 and chairs the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, decided to run in the new 17th District. He is facing off against New York State Senator Alessandra Biaggi.
There is also a Republican primary in the district between five candidates: Assemblymember Michael Lawler, Rockland County Legislator Charles Falciglia; business executive Jack Schrepel; Shoshana David; and William Faulkner.
The new 18th District in the Mid-Hudson Valley has an open seat and three Democrats are seeking the primary nomination. They include Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan; Moses Mugulusi, a state financial examiner; and Aisha Mills, a Democratic strategist.
There is also an open race for the 19th District, which covers parts of the Southern Tier, Catskills, and Hudson Valley.  Two Democrats are running in the district: Attorney Josh Riley and small business owner Jamie Cheney.
There is also a special election for the seat left vacant by Democrat Antonio Delgado since he was appointed lieutenant governor. The candidates for the special election are Democrat Pat Ryan and Republican Dutchess County Executive Mark Molinaro.
Polls are open until 6 p.m. Primary day is Tuesday, Aug. 23.
