The proposed new location for an Off-Track Betting parlor concerns the Lexington Center for Recovery due to its close proximity.
Barbara Tabala, director of the center?s programming, says the 84 Route 59 location is not the best place for OTB. Lexington counsels people with chemical dependencies, including alcohol, and has plans to expand its programming to gambling addictions. The proposed OTB is approximately 150 feet from Lexington?s door, Tabala says.
Rabbi Schmuel Gancz adds that the OTB would be a negative influence on the community. Gancz runs the Jewish center across from the proposed location on Route 59.
