Fire crews on land and in the air are battling a brush fire in Putnam County that has been burning since Friday night.
Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne told News 12 Saturday that the brush fire is concentrated in a forest. He said there are concerns about the preservation of personal property and homes.
Byrne added that there has been communication with homeowners to ensure their safety and that the main focus is to put out the fire to protect homes.
There was no exact figure as of Saturday night in regard to the number of homes that could potentially be in the path of the flames.
There were no evacuation plans as of Saturday night.
