A Brewster woman accused of hitting a dog with her SUV and fleeing the scene is facing multiple charges, according to the Putnam County SPCA.

SPCA officials say 28-year-old Ingrid Lopez struck a dog named Astro near Center Street on Dec. 2.

The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital with severe injuries and had to receive several operations.

SPCA detectives say they found the suspect with the help of information from witnesses and ring cameras.

She was arrested at her residence on Dec. 3, according to officials.

The charges against Lopez include animal cruelty, criminal mischief and leaving the scene of injury to certain animals without reporting.
