It’s been two days since the Preston Way Bridge in Mt. Kisco closed at the request of the state Department of Transportation.

A message on the village website says it will remain closed until further notice.

There’s been a lot of confusion about who exactly owns the bridge.

According to state Sen. Pete Harckham, the bridge is owned by the village and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

Harckham says he’s working with all involved parties to get them to agree on a financial package.

That package would allow for the village to do any necessary repairs or replacements the bridge may need.

There are a lot of businesses surrounding the bridge.

Some travelers told News 12 that they had no idea it was closed until they came to do some shopping. They say a detour route took them nearly 20 minutes out of the way.

"It'll just kind of make me think twice before coming to Mt. Kisco to run my errands," said Kaitlin McQuillan.

News 12 has reached out to the MTA and DOT for comment. Both referred News 12 to the village for any questions.

News 12 sent several messages to the village, but did not hear back.
