Overnight rain flooded a portion of the Bronx River Parkway, causing a major shutdown for several hours.
Crews pumped hundreds of gallons of water from both sides of the roadway near the Westchester Avenue exit.
A worker with the Department of Environmental Protection says the flooding started because the pavement was milled as part of ongoing repair work, which caused debris to clog a catch basin at the location.
All lanes have since reopened.
