A Ramapo police officer and a prominent Monsey businessman were charged with sexual abuse and unauthorized practice of medicine Tuesday following months of investigation.
Officer Andrew Dale appeared before a judge in Rockland County after being suspended by the Ramapo Police Department. He was joined in court by Monsey businessman Zalman Silber, who was charged with posing as a gynecologist.
In June, Silber was also indicted by the Manhattan district attorney for impersonating a Park Avenue gynecologist.
The charges against Silber were brought on by his ex-wife, who claims to be a victim. However, Silber?s attorney Bill Aronwald claims that the woman is unstable. ?The fact of the matter is there isn't an ounce of credibility to her claims and we will prove that when we get into court," Aronwald says.
According to Aronwald, Silber?s ex-wife was not satisfied with her divorce settlement, and that the charges are a form of revenge.
It still has not been determined how or whether Silber and Dale are connected in the case. Both men were released on bail. They are due back in court on Sept. 9.
