Ramapo police are warning residents about an online scam.
The scam occurred in May when a complainant claimed they received an email that appeared from McAfee Antivirus, which stated $400 was going to be charged to their account.
The resident called the customer service number and was told that in order to reverse the charge, they would need to allow remote access to their computer.
The resident was then told an error occurred and $40,000 were refunded.
A courier arrived at the home the next day to collect the first payment of $15,000.
Ramapo police have arrested a Nassau County man with this incident.
