Dozens of Ramapo residents came out Thursday to view the architectural renderings of Project Grand Slam - the 3,500-seat minor league baseball stadium the town plans to build.
Union representatives say the project, expected to be erected on 25 acres off Fireman's Memorial Drive, could create up to 150 jobs.
Some local residents oppose the project, saying a baseball stadium, which comes with a price tag of $25 million, is not the best use of the town's funds.
Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence insists that Project Glam Slam "will pay for itself."
Ramapo officials hope to break ground in August and open the stadium June 1, 2011.
