The Town of Yorktown, the Alliance for Safe Kids and the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce launched a relief effort on Monday for residents of Louisiana harmed by Hurricane Ida.
People who want to help can buy a gift card and bring it to Supervisor Matt Slater's office by the end of day on Sept. 3.
Donations can also be made directly to Second Harvest Food Bank at www.no-hunger.org
More than a million homes and businesses were without power Monday across Louisiana and Mississippi as Ida remained a danger with its heavy rains and storm surge.
