Rep. Nita Lowey (D-Harrison) made her first public appearance Thursday following a Feb. 2 health scare.

Lowey was with veterans in Congers Thursday, fighting to reverse a 2003 Veterans Administration decision that put income limitations on health benefits. Lowey says veterans in Rockland and Westchester are disproportionately affected by the freeze.

The appearance took place weeks after Lowey collapsed during a rally for Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in White Plains. The 70-year-old, who lives in Harrison, suffered what was later described as a minor coronary incident. Without going into detail, the 10-term Democrat says she feels fine now and will run for re-election in the fall.

The congresswoman says she will continue to work on behalf of her constituents and plans to return to Washington, D.C. next week.
