The Repair Café at the Haverstraw Center allowed people to bring in any two items to be fixed, such as vacuums, heaters, toasters and furniture.
The event takes place twice a year, moving from town to town offering help to those who need it. They also had Spanish speakers on hand.

The self-taught volunteers were eager to assist fellow members of the Rockland community.
"I’m having so much fun. I love solving the problem, and people get to keep using the item,” said repair coach Scott Marchfeld.
In addition to being helpful, the event also contributed to sustainability.
"Things like this really help to reduce how much is making it into the landfill,” said Janine Marshall Cazeau.
