A report released Tuesday found that gun violence continues to be a problem throughout the Bronx and the U.S. The report, issued by the Children's Defense Fund, says almost 3,000 kids and teens were killed nationwide in 2003 as a result of gun violence. New York is one of seven states that recorded the most deaths that year. The City Council speaker and the chair of the Public Safety Committee have introduced legislation to reduce illegal guns on Bronx streets. The full council is expected to vote on the bills next week.
