A 1-year-old puppy that had its paw stuck in a bathtub drain hole was rescued on Saturday.
Police say when they arrived at the home on Saturday at 11 a.m., they noticed that the Daisy's paw was swollen but they were unable to free her paw from the drain hole.
Officers used Vaseline and vegetable oil to try to free Daisy's paw as they waited for the Sleepy Hollow Volunteer Fire Department and the Sleepy Hollow Animal Hospital to arrive.
Upon arrival, the fire department chief then contacted Donovan's Plumbing to help in the effort. Mr. Kelly, from Donovan's Plumbing, was able unscrew the drain flange from the drain arm while in the basement. This allowed for officials to transport the puppy to the Sleepy Hollow Animal Hospital and continue the rescue effort there.
The fire department, along with the vet tech, used wire cutters to cut the drain flange. This freed the puppy’s two paw pads that were stuck in the hole.
Daisy is now home and recovering.
