Dozens of residents gathered at town hall meeting in Bronxville Saturday night to question political leaders about the future of the nation under the Trump administration.
Political officials, including U.S. Rep. George Latimore, State Sen. Shelley Mayer and Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard, fielded questions from the audience at First Baptist Church.
Written questions, submitted by the audience, centered on several topics, including healthcare, housing, education and potential cuts to Medicare and Social Security.
"Medicaid is definitely on the table right now. There's a budget that's being developed and the target was to cut $880 billion out of Medicaid," said Latimer, who represents the state's 16th Congrssional District.
"Nobody's coming to rescue us. We have to figure out how we are going to move together, forward together, stronger together, make more impact together," Patterson-Howard said.
"Regardless of politics, regardless of viewpoint, we do not have to agree on everything. We have to agree that America is worth fighting for and that we have our voice, and we're going to stand up and make it be heard," Mayer added.
