Residents in Middletown are on alert after a rash of burglaries that occurred in broad daylight.
According to police, burglars have broken into homes near Horton Hospital six times since mid-June. All of the break-ins took place during the daylight hours. Detective Sergeant Jerry Mishk says the suspects are targeting homes with open doors and windows. Mishk says once the burglars find a way into the house, they take jewelry, cash and electronics.
Police are warning residents to be more vigilant. They say homeowners should lock all their doors and windows. They also suggest residents keep air conditioning units secured. Police say crooks can push the units right through the window and gain entry to the house.Police say if residents see something suspicious they should call 911. ?We would rather respond to a call that is nothing, than not respond to a call that actually turns out to be a burglary,? Mishk said.
