Resident concerns with a leaky 327,000-gallon water tank in Unionville are continuing, despite some recent repairs.
News 12 first reported on the tank’s disrepair in March when after receiving videos of water leaking from the seams, water stains down the side of the tank and parts of the tank that were missing bolts.
The Orange County Health Department issued the village a violation notice in April for failing to maintain the tank at fines of up to $2,000 a day if not fixed.
Unionville Mayor Martin Howard says problems have been corrected and additional service is expected later this month.
Some people in the area, however, say they hope the county keeps watch on the tank.
“Who knows how long those repairs will hold. Like in the past, they used a black tar like rubber material that didn’t hold up against the water pressure,” says resident Anna DiVito.
News 12 reached out to the county Health Department for more information and is awaiting response.
