An inmate on Riker's Island has been indicted for allegedly assaulting a New York City Department of Corrections captain and two officers, according to Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark.

Miles Williams, 25, is accused of attacking the staff members after he was allegedly caught with multiple large items stuffed in his clothing at the Otis Bantum Correctional Center on Sept. 5.

Prosecutors say Williams was allegedly spotted in a treatment cubicle at the main clinic, a restricted area, and took the items as he left the cubicle.

According to the indictment, the captain and two officers approached Williams and asked him to remove the items from his clothing. Williams allegedly refused to give up the goods and instead attacked the three staff members with closed fists - and a hairbrush.

Prosecutors say the captain and both officers sustained injuries that required emergency medical treatment.

According to the indictment, one victim suffered a fractured nose and another sustained a laceration that required stitches and staples. Paramedics took all three staff members to Mount Sinai Queens Hospital.

"Physical violence on correction officers will not be tolerated," said Clark.

Preliminary reports noted a fourth attack victim, another officer, who was not noted in the indictment.

Williams was arraigned Wednesday on a slew of assault charges.

According to the DA, his bail was continued at $100,000 cash/$100,000 bond/$100,000 partially secured bond with 10% surety.

Williams is due back in court on Jan. 5, 2027.

“The safety of our Correction Officers is paramount, and no member of our department should have to endure violence while carrying out their duties," said NYC Correction Commissioner Stanley Richards.

According to public court records, Williams was initially arrested on Oct. 14, 2025, for an alleged assault that happened that same day in Manhattan. He pleaded not guilty to assault with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon. He is expected back in court in that case on Nov. 5.
