As 4/20 approaches, often considered an informal holiday for marijuana users, the issue of marijuana addiction comes into focus.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is a 10% likelihood of individuals who use cannabis becoming addicted.
Zac Clark, CEO of Release Recovery, highlighted concerns about the potency of today's marijuana compared to previous years. "Culturally, it's become more accepted, so more people are using it, especially in our youth," Clark explained. "What we're seeing is more episodes of psychosis, anxiety, depression, and even suicide."
Release Recovery recently opened a new outpatient facility in Purchase, offering services and resources to assist individuals struggling with addiction to marijuana and other substances.
