Parking meters are coming to a busy Riverdale roadway, angering some locals.
The Department of Transportation plans to install the meters along the commercial part of Mosholu Avenue west of Broadway sometime within the next two months. Community Board 8 representatives are in favor of the change.
Board Chairperson Anthony Cassino supports the idea, saying Westchester County residents often park their cars and commute into Manhattan. According to storeowners, the out-of-towners hog scarce spaces, causing locals to shop elsewhere.
Other residents complain the plan is just another way for the city to dig deeper into their pockets.
Some believe a parking garage would be a good compromise for both sides.
