A group of about 15 Riverdale residents rallied at Ewen Park Saturday to spare trees in their neighborhood from the ax.
The protesters say that officials plan to cut down about 15 trees to make way for a new playground at Ewen Park.
One protester says that the trees are over 100 years old, still healthy and represent a natural haven in the area.
Protesters say they are working with the New York City Park Advocates in hopes of finding a solution.
