Rockland BOCES culinary students are working with chefs who recently competed on FOX’s cooking competition show “Hell's Kitchen" for a special event.
The students are getting ready to feed 150 people Tuesday evening for a “Hell's Kitchen” pop-up restaurant night. It's one of the largest events the culinary program has ever held.
"It's an opportunity most people don't have, and I'm very fortunate that I'll be able to cook alongside three world-renowned chefs,” says Roee Ronen, a student from South Nyack. "This is something I'll be able to put on my resume for the rest of my life."
"Hell’s Kitchen" contestants Nikki Hanna, Alyssa Osinga and Congers resident Tara Ciannella are sharing their knowledge to help sharpen the students’ skills and leave them with a few life lessons.
"Learning how to adapt to working with new people, because that's how it is in everyday restaurant life,” Osinga says.
Guests will eat a five-course meal designed by each chef and prepared by the students.
Kendell Brenner, the Rockland BOCES culinary program's instructor for 19 years, hopes students will understand organization, teamwork, presentation and more.
"It gives them the opportunity to network, to meet the local players, which is great. Now people can put a face to the name,” he says.
News 12 was told that the kitchen will be livestreamed on the Rockland BOCES website Tuesday starting at 4:30 p.m.
