Rockland Business Women's Network is spearheading the county's
first-ever online holiday shopping exposition.
News
12 is told the idea came from businesses pivoting to the new normal. The
official website is
RocklandShopping.com.
Businesses
like Bach to Rock Music School in Nanuet are participating with major holiday
discounts.
“We want to give the gift of music this
year. We're doing buy three, get
one free - a package of four lessons 25% off,” says site
director Jesse Kurtz. “It will apply to any program for any of the ages."
About 40 businesses are on board to
participate - including the arts, home organizing and more. Owners interested
in joining can visit the
official
website to pay a $100 fee.
“Local
is our thing, we want to support the community,” says Kurtz. “So, when we saw
there was a virtual event, we said we want to be part of that."
Susan Farese, of Nanuet Chamber of Commerce, compares the shopping expo to an online street fair.
"When
people go to buy the products, it directs them to that website or company
website to buy direct from that,” says Farese.
Shoppers
looking to support local businesses in the expo can do so beginning Dec. 5
until Dec. 9.
