Rockland County held its annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony at Haverstraw Bay Park, honoring the lives lost 23 years ago.
Hundreds attended, including family members who read the names of their loved ones.
A tolling of the bell marked the moments of the attacks and the World Trade Center towers' collapse.
The ceremony also paid respects to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing victim from Rockland.
Attendees left roses near the names of those they knew.
"It's remarkable it's been this long," said Kelly Manzi of Valley Cottage. "I hope as a country, as a world, we can come together in peace."
Additional ceremonies are scheduled throughout the evening.
