Rockland County mourns loss of fire service legend

John Kryger, who passed away at the age of 81 earlier this week after a year-long battle with cancer, was a lifelong member of the Rockland County Firefighters Association.

Rockland County mourns loss of fire service legend
The Rockland community gathered Thursday to honor the memory of a man who dedicated his life to the fire service.
John Kryger, who passed away at the age of 81 earlier this week after a year-long battle with cancer, was a lifelong member of the Rockland County Firefighters Association.
He was also a member of the Rockland County Fire Chiefs Association and played a pivotal role in training numerous firefighters in the region.
A wake was held at the Rockland County Fire Training Center. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Garnerville.
Kryger's legacy of service and commitment to the safety of his community will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
