The Rockland County District Attorney's office says a Spring Valley man pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child over the course of three years.

Police say 41-year-old Evelio Mendez started sexually abusing the child when they were 8, and it took place from Sept. 2020 to Sept. 2023.

Officials say the sentencing is set for May. Mendez will be sentenced to 10 years in state prison, along with 10 years post-release supervision.

Police say Mendez will also have to register as a sex offender.
