Rockland County Department of Health received 2,100 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday morning - a jump from the combined 1,200 doses received over the last two weeks.
County officials hope the delivery becomes the bare minimum Rockland sees on a weekly basis.
"We in Rockland County will continue to advocate for our fair share of vaccines from the state of New York,” said Ed Day, Rockland’s county executive.
The county's Office for the Aging also launched a senior call center to assist the most vulnerable with getting vaccinated after receiving more than 700 calls for help this week.
The county is going to build a database of seniors to be vaccinated. To register, seniors need to call the hotline and provide consent, demographic information and answer health questions. Once available, they will be booked an appointment.
The county will also arrange transportation if needed, paying the first $10 each way, round trip.
Wednesday’s shipment in Rockland is already booked solid – all appointments were filled in just 40 minutes after going live.
Any eligible senior/person with a disability must make an appointment here or can call the County's Office for the Aging at 845-364-2110.
