Residents in Rockland are being warned about a recent online scam for winning fake prizes.

Officials say “Sweepstakes Scam” is tricking people into thinking they won a prize and must send money to claim it.

One person, a veteran, lost over a $1,000 to the scam says Rockland County Executive Ed Day.

Officials urge people to be aware of unsolicited communication and never to send money or personal information to people you don't know.
