A Rockland woman is now home after running 12 days across New York state - in a wedding dress!
Vanessa Reiser, from Congers, ran 285 miles from Oswego to Manhattan to raise awareness about a form of domestic violence called narcissistic abuse.
The licensed therapist is a survivor of narcissistic abuse and broke off her engagement as a result. Reiser says she wanted to do something to help others during her own process of healing. "We have a lot of work to do, but we did definitely open up a dialogue around the clinical trials that highlight this form of insidious domestic violence. We are shining a light on the clinical behaviors that people don't generally talk about."
Reiser returned home on Saturday. She says she's received positive feedback from hundreds of people and is already planning on another run.
