‘Rolling in Peace’ – Father’s Day, Juneteenth and Gun Violence Awareness Month celebrated in Mount Vernon

Ten African-American Mount Vernon police officers came with the idea to combine Father’s Day, Juneteenth and Gun Violence Awareness Month together to show support for the city.

A community in Mount Vernon has planned a day packed with fun activities for the whole community to enjoy. 
The event is hosted by SNUG and MVPD Wellness at Hartley Park. Ten African-American Mount Vernon police officers came with the idea to combine Father’s Day, Juneteenth and Gun Violence Awareness Month together with the support of the city. 
It became “Rolling in Peace.” 
One of the organizers of the event tells News 12 this is about bringing the community together and stopping the violence. 
“It’s just like a give back, a new awakening,” says MVPD Detective David Clarke. 
Those attending can expect face painting, bouncy houses and roller skating. 
“Rolling in Peace” will be going until 7 p.m.
