Saddle up and hop on a horseback, western-style, at Hollow Brook Riding Academy in Putnam Valley.
This family-owned business of nearly three decades offers riding lessons to anyone of all ages and experiences.
Among more than 20 acres on the farm, you'll learn the basics of a different kind of riding discipline in the outdoor and indoor rings.
Owners Eric and Lorraine Sundberg say western riding is more relaxed, with more of a focus on neck-reigning rather than pulsing with both hands on the reigns. They say you just sit there and enjoy your ride!
Lessons will also teach you how to care for more than a dozen horses on the farm.
Spending more time with the intuitive animals will help to reinforce your bond with them.
Right now, registration is open for summer programs at Hollow Brook Riding Academy.
