Local nonprofits are coming together to help Hudson Valley residents struggling with food insecurity due to the pandemic.
Dozens of people in need waited patiently outside the Salvation Army offices in Tarrytown Tuesday for a delivery of food from Feeding Westchester.
The Salvation Army Greater New York Division has served more than 7 million meals since the COVID-19 outbreak began last March. In 2019, it was about half that number.
The Salvation Army says at a food distribution event like the one in Tarrytown Tuesday can serve up to 150 families.
